PEOPLE

Laura Stargala, Co-Founder

Through research, design, and physical engagement with construction Laura investigates the human relationship to resources. With a desire for connectivity, she envisions a contemporary architecture that limits itself to hyper-proximal rearrangements and considers multi-bodied dependencies within a terrain. Most recently she has learned from masons and dry stone builders, worked on structures across the US, UK and France, and engaged with local communities and students at the AA and UCL. Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Architecture from AAP Cornell University, where she has also taught as a teaching assistant. Before starting her own design studio Of Here and co-founding Ryala, Laura worked for Herzog & de Meuron, Junya Ishigami, and Pezo Von Ellrichshausen. She is a licensed architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Timothée Ryan, Co-Founder

Working at the intersection between architecture and biology, Timothée specialises in edificial ecologies. He has led agri-centric architectural projects in France, Haiti and Honduras, as well as prototypical research in the US and the UK. Timothée is also the founder of Lyse, a laboratorial studio that develops carbon-based materials for remediatory architectures. Using organic chemistry and microbial inoculation, these structures work to sequester atmospheric pollution, filter contaminated waters, and bolster soil fertility. Timothée holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, a Master of Arch in Bio- Integrated Design from the Bartlett, UCL, and has received certification in dry stone construction.
